What is waterproof flooring, and why should everyone have it?

Some rooms, like the kitchen, bath, or laundry room, generate a lot of humidity. This, in turn, wreaks havoc in your home and can even start the mold and mildew process growing. Also, you might be trying to open a very tough bottle--only to have it open and spill all the liquid contents on the floor! The bottom line is this: It doesn’t matter where you live. We all need waterproof flooring.

Hardworking style

Just because something works hard doesn’t mean you need to sacrifice great design. If you select waterproof vinyl flooring, it becomes a more recent, more advanced version of luxury vinyl. The vinyl itself is waterproof, but these floors come with technologically advanced cores, the WPC (wood plastic composite) or the SPC (stone plastic composite).

The WPC and SPC cores are dense, even thicker, and more durable and won't peel or ripple no matter how much water they're exposed to or for how long. While both WPC and SPC have the same moisture protection level, the difference is in the feeling underfoot; SPC is firm and more rigid like that of a hard surface. WPC is warmer, softer, and more resilient. Since they are constructed of liquid-impervious materials, the capabilities are inherent; the floor can be spilled on or submerged.

These floors have all the style and functionality of luxury vinyl. The images are taken with digital photography, so they’re vibrant and clear, available in many colors and patterns. Micro beveling and embossing add depth, dimension, and textured appearances, such as wire-brushed, hand scraped, weathered, and distressed. Best of all, it can be cut into planks to mimic hardwood boards or square, groutable tile-sized pieces to echo stone and wood.

Waterproof laminate flooring: Just what the market’s been waiting for!

Now you can have this favorite in your kitchen, bath, or any higher-than-normal moisture space! This laminate version has a unique construction with backings and a highly stable core that keeps spills from absorbing, staining, and buckling. The original version is still very much on the market, so be very clear about which one you want.
